One with a cliff hanger or a question. But when you text just “hey” that might look like you want to start some long drawn out conversation with no particular purpose, and guys don’t like to just converse unless they really like you and want to talk to you about sweet nothings. Another possible perception guys may get when they get a “hey” text from a girl, especially if it is texted late at night, one word texts looks like you are asking for a booty call, especially if it’s to a friend that you have done that with before. So if you want to talk to them then ask them to meet up or else have a purpose in texting them.
